Telelink completed a project for Integrated Urban Transport in Pleven Municipality
Telelink has successfully completed the integration of an Intelligent Transport System in Pleven Municipality, part of the project for Integrated Urban Transport in the city of Pleven, financed by RDP 2007-2013, co-funded by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund.
During the project implementation a system for traffic management was integrated and commissioned with the goal to give priority to public transport vehicles. The system is based on wireless magnetic detectors, integrated into the road surface, in order to collect traffic data. Based on information derived from this data, a specialized software makes decisions (at central level) for the management of traffic lights in real-time. For special groups of junctions the system even introduces green waves. On the local level each controller is equipped with specific functionalities required to adapt the cycle time and the green waves depending on the current traffic. To ensure the priority of public transport vehicles the system is using specialized radio modems, as well as separate controllers.
With the successful completion of this project, Telelink provided measurable improvements to the public transport in the city of Pleven.
